When I was trying to get a fix on the political situation here, from someone who is pro-Sinhalese and very down on the Tamils, I asked, 'How long have they been here?'

'Only 1000 years,' was the answer.

So take that men from Snowy River. After a mere 170 years (?), you'd be lucky to be given a glass of water and a banana round these parts.
