A fitter, more boring me
This morning seven of us started Boot Camp. Virginia and I have been doing personal training for some time now
but this is up a notch. Up at 6, running around the Carlton Gardens by 6.30.
I have never been an early riser, and never keen on more agressive fitness regimes but something's changing. I have more energy. I feel much better for it. In part, it's my age. I'm 43 and struggling to say in shape. (ie. getting fat). I feel like this, and my yoga (which I love) is a personal battle between me and Age. It's a cliche, I know, but strange to feel as young as ever and then notice from people's reactions to you that you simply aren't. And hey, tomorrow is Ride to Work Day. There will be free muffins awaiting me at the end of the 8 km ride.
But here's the thing that motivates me the most: this health regime is the closest I've come to curing my insomnia. Not totally - but substantially. What I'm getting to with all this is that I think it's good to change habits. You can spend you're whole life saying 'I never get up early' and what have you got to show for it other than, well, never getting up early. I would occassionally march into the early morning when I lived in Bondi, but it took one of the most beautiful beaches in the world to tempt me.
It is possible, of course, that this is the most boring blog post I'll ever write. (Tom resist the temptation to comment. Please.)

I don't know whether this will interest you or not but I married Ronald Grayson Campbell - Shirley Nicholl's cousin - and visited Shirley and Alan quite a bit (and even more so Jean Campbell in East Melbourne and South Yarra). We had letters from Shirley and I remember the one she wrote Ron when you returned from USA without Peter (who, incidentally was only 9 years younger than me!).
Ron's and my daughter writes under the name Catherine Bateson...so just thought it might interest you that "writing" genes must be pretty strong! Regards, Louise

Not boring. I need to do something like this.
sophie says:
yes, in fact the only downside is that it does cost - but if you do it in groups it's mangageable.
