Festival time

I have come to Bali for my father's wedding. Bali is a place I'm ambivalent about. I had a horror trip here as a teenager with a boyfriend who drank his way around Kuta. I've been back as a single person and found it a difficult place to travel alone. Well, to put that another way, difficult to be a woman, who is solitary by nature, who wants to be left alone. But it is beautiful. And this morning (I arrived late last night) I went for a walk by the beach and just happened upon this:

Festival - 1

which reminded me of why Bali is amazing. No matter what horrors tourism causes the people keep being true themselves in a way that is quite beautiful.

Another good thing: monsoon rain. Just extraordinary.

I tried on my tight green sequin traditional wedding outfit. It is very tight. Very. Very very. I may, or may not blog it.
