Gayness (no. 100,234)

I've been meaning to write a sophisticated blog entry about the latest round of arguments about Gay Civil Unions, the ACT and State rights. Then I became exhausted by the sheer number of links to the ridiculous number of articles on the subject. Best, if you want to go anywhere, to go toAnonymous Lefty. He's written well on the subject. Me? I'm sick of listening to people like me discussed in the third person as if we're so rare we're unlikely to be listening to the radio or reading the paper.

I had an idea a while back, which I'm sure I mentioned on this blog. If we're going to be treated and spoken to as if we're not full citizens, why should we pay taxes? Sit on government committees? Work for the government? Do all the things we do? If every gay person stopped contributing to the wider community, and stopped paying taxes, perhaps the government might notice we're actual human beings. Seriously: I'm thinking about it.
