Memory- wastes

I recall a schoolboy coming home
Through fields of cane
To a house of tin and timber
And in the sky
A rain of falling cinders . . .
Those beautiful lines are from 'Cattle & Cane' and were written by Grant McClelland who died in Brisbane on Saturday night. He was only 48. You will find tributes to Grant on the Go Betweens website.
