Old friend
I first met Kim almost 30 years ago. She went out with a high school friend of mine, then we ended up going to uni together, sharing a house, then going to India. She has moved back to Melbourne after almost 20 years in Sydney and I went to have a cup of tea with her today. I think age has made her hands beautiful.

Hey there Sophie Cunningham - what a lovely thing to write about Kimmy. I agree, and shouldn't more people notice the things about aging that are potentially beautiful??
I am here (on your site) quite by accident but must say that i love love your blog .... and did i ever mention to you (through the Kims, Andys and Georgias ) that i read Geography and was so haunted and affected by the rawness and honesty it was threaded with. I was also so inspired with what a fucking great writer you are - all those years of publishing and there you were lurking behind he scenes with a terrific novel inside you!! I havent read Bird as to be honest i didnt know it existed, but will now!!
I too am also wading my way through screenplays and toying with the idea of a novel - the playwriting has been so good to me, and branching out feels like leaving home ... but ....
Hope things are fabulous for you down there in Melb. S xx

hello! thanks for liking Geography. Bird doesn't come out till next year, so no wonder you haven't read it. i knew you were writing plays, with real success - you're brave to change genres. i ventured into screenplays, but ran back home to novels. Melbourne is gripped by footy fever, which is fabulous. my team is in the grand final, which is even more fabulous. s xx
