Thanks to Lorraine Crescent for finding this strange, strange video. I think the woman in green is so frightened it's possible she died immediately after the performance. Or her team mates will kill her. It reminds me of the rowing fiasco during the last olympics.
That's The Cake, a mid sixties girl group. They might seems a bit strange (and tuneless), especially fraidy girl on the left, but they were a reasonably well thought of part of the sixties cool scene.
I hadn't seen it before either & reacted much as you did, but as Tony indicates this seems ot have been their schtick. It's still weird. On youtube there was a link to a video featuring the listless girl doing a duet of 'Ive Got You Babe' with Tiny Tim.

Yes, since I posted I gathered they were well known for a while. And also that the girl with the schtick died very young (well, at 30).
