The night before the wedding
The night before the wedding was Nyepi. After the flurry of noise and bad spirits of Oghu Oghu it was a day of total rest. No cooking, no drinking (though we tourists were fed and given drink) and no lights. It made for a very peaceful day.
This is Dad and Mala on the 'magic' carpet they were given for their wedding. I find this photo very touching.

This is Charlie, in the pool.

The sunset was beautiful
and then at 7 pm night fell and the entire island was black. There was total silence. We were only allowed to have lights in our room if they couldn't be seen from the street. It was fabulous.
